The Rat Line is an independent San Jose State alumni magazine, first published after the 1987 Stanford game by “early sixties friends” of three independent houses on or near South 11th Street—”Greek row”. They were: The Rats Nest, Lions Den and Surfrider, three houses owned by two sororities in the early sixties.

Spartans outshine Notre Dame against Aztecs 35-10
Clicking on all cylinders, despite having leading receiver Kevin Jurovich (Valley Christian) out with mononucleosis, Cal transfer Kyle Reed completed his first 13 passes and San Jose State’s 10th ranked defense against the run held San Diego State to a net 6 yards rushing and did not allow a touchdown. San Jose State’s improving defense had it’s best game, holding the Mountain West Aztecs to just 146 yards of total offense. Notre Dame allowed San Diego State to stay with them the previous Saturday in South Bend, running up 345 yards against the Irish before losing a close game 20-13 in the 4th quarter.
